allegri_string_quartet_300The Llanfyllin Workhouse is very pleased to welcome the world renowned Allegri String Quartet to perform a special children's concert as part of the week-long Llanfyllin Music Festival.
the performance features the Allegri String Quartet plus Meifod-based harpist Ieuan Jones.

Come and enjoy 90 minutes of lovely music, and learn about the wonderful stringed instruments that the Quartet will play for us. This will be a fun, informative and enjoyable afternoon, and a unique opportunity for children to experience this wonderful sound world.
Do bring your own children or grandchildren and those of your friends and neighbours. School parties are welcome as are unaccompanied adults, in fact everyone who would like to come to a concert with a difference.

The Allegri Quartet is one of the oldest British Chamber ensembles in existence, going back to its foundation in the 1953 by Eli Goren, William Pleeth, Patrick Ireland and James Barton.
With a packed schedule for the coming season 2008/9, highlights include a Premier of Matthew Taylor's Seventh Quartet, a commission for the Little Missenden Festival. The Quartet has invitations to Turkey and Canada, and has been invited to Wigmore Hall to participate in a Coffee Concert later on in the season.
